Based at the Stour Leisure Centre, Ashford was the first of many dojo’s across the country under the constant leadership of Kaicho Bernard Creton. Originally under the banner of British Karate Kyokushinkai (BKK) the Ashford club flourished in the midst of public recognition for the martial arts. In 1980 the dojo altered direction forming a nucleus of clubs under the new umbrella of British Karate Jutsu Renmei (BKJK).Jutsu Remnei was the brainchild of Kaicho Creton and friend/associate (the then) Sensei Dickie Dowler together their martial ideals were implemented. By 1986 it became clear that the two instructors had different motivations which led to an amicable parting, and the formulation of a new association, Kokusai Karate Jutsu Kai (KKJK). With chief instructor Kaicho Creton (9th Dan), Ashford remained with its mentor who continued to play an active role at the club.

Today Ashford dojo remains an integral part of Kokusai Karate Jutsu Kai. Its’ past and present instructors remaining true to the guidance and ideology of Kaicho Bernard Creton who has been the consistent factor since its creation and is firmly established as one of the longest-running Karate clubs in Ashford, Kent.

Under the guidance and tuition of Shihan Alan Miller (6th Dan) Ashford Karate Jutsu Kai continues to go from strength to strength. Shihan Alan Miller started his training with Kaicho Creton in the mid 1980’s. Quickly demonstrating his potential Shihan Miller trained hard to become a proficient martial artist. His skill and ability has been recognised nationally and internationally partaking in multiple national and international tournaments including the: European JKA (Holland), World JKA (Switzerland), EKGB British Open (UK), World Points Knockdown (Tokyo), French Open, Belgium Open, South East regionals, London BASKA and of course many of Karate Jutsu Kai’s own tournaments. Today, Shihan Miller continues to strive for the perfection and development of this art form. On his quest the students of the Ashford Dojo benefit from his ability, passion and commitment in teaching and practising the true principles of karate and his continued life study of Karate Jutsu Kai under the leadership of Kaicho Bernard Creton.
